(Can somebody check, if Vivien is added to the mailing list.)

Timeline:
In the last Jour Fixe (14/Oct), the president said, all is done now. I replied, ''we will try again and again until you don't listen to us.''

To make the change in the construction plan, we had an on-site meeting with Chancellor on 16/Sept but he didn't come. Alice Boit said, she doesn't have rights so she can't decide upon any changes. (it was a very strategic, and long debate.)

In 22/Sept/19 reply, she was mentioning about 10/oct/2019 meeting, where Selina(+49 15209480414, campus politics) and Jonathan(jwiegers at astaup.de, university politics) were the newly elected representatives (It was there first meeting). In the meeting, a council member said, ''the decision already finalised in March/19, so nothing to talk about it.'' Meeting proceeded to the next topic. Because of the lack of information, Selina and Jonathan didn't say anything in against to that.

On 27/Feb/2019, Sara (+491634439789) was present at jour fixe with a petition signed by 800+ students to support the demand, but university wanted a bigger room space for university shop and used 'self-learning zone' argument against student's demand of free room. Council left the decision for later. On 1/Mar/19, university administration finalised the construction plan, without any further discussion, which was surprising for student representatives.

In 2018, Student Parliament also gave a statement to support free room for students, but the university council didn't consider it.

If you want to know further back, in 2018-17, Kilian (student representative, kbinder at uni-potsdam.de) was the person who introduced self-learning room in the council meeting for the first time. University liked the idea of self-learning zone because it had to regulated by the university administration. Other student representatives demanded free-room (student self-administered), but the council thought, it is an un-neccessary demand of students.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The building has to be demolished after 9 years from now, and students already have spent more than two years in the fight for free room. Here is a member who actively working on this topic: Dulguun (+491723158980, Grüner Campus). Feel free to contact her.

Dear Shubham Mamgain,
thank you for the thread of emails you sent, it proved to be quite
informative.

As far as a timeline is concerned: In the mail from September 22nd, Alice
Boit notes that "a change in the ongoing construction is impossible as the
final decision about the division in three zones has already been made over
a year ago."
Was decision coordinated with the student body? Did all parties agree on the
concept as it stood for most of this year?

Thank you for your time,
Nathan Hümpfner

Unfortunately, Chancellor didn't come to the meeting and the situation didn't resolve until now. The last meeting on 14/oct, the president repeated the statement, nothing can be changed in the plan. There is one more current issue I would like to highlight regarding sustainable development of our university. more than 40+ trees are marked to be cut down at Neues Palais. If you find it a story to cover, please let me know.

The both small rooms, studicafe(21 sq. m) and self-learning room(23 sq.m) are going to use by students, hence, those rooms can be merged together into one bigger room to offer an open learning environment.

Our university promote itself as a garden where knowledge grows, but sadly, in the foreground of senate house, students are struggling for years to find thier space in the main campus. University council must recall the fact that walls had never lead to the solution, rather it works as hindrance in the path of collective growth.
>
> About room sharing: We, the student body, are happy to promote our university's artwork by the means of unishop. We seek for every possibility to integrate with others' convention in order to develop our university reputation in the global platform. It is possible, when student body and the university council will work together, constructively. We have submitted petition in Feb/19, to express our need, but the concil is neglecting it continously until now. Hereby, I'm attaching a proposal for the division of old book shop by taking the economical aspect as priority. I hope, you will understand the urge of our demand, and act upon it by being concious about the intellectual development of our university.

We kindly ask you for a little patience while we are requesting a quotation. We appreciate your efforts to work constructively together on the sanitary and kitchenette facilities. The student's dissapointment about the wall separating the Freiraum from the Self-learning zone has been communicated to the Chancellor. Please understand that a change in the ongoing construction is impossible as the final decision about the division in three zones has already been made over a year ago. Nonetheless, I would be happy to explore with you the possibilities of a common use of the self-learning zone - possibly also outside of the restricted office hours of the Unishop. To achieve this, we would need to discuss an agreement
with the users of the Unishop. Please feel free to contact me or Ms.

In the decision making process, Feb/19 Jour Fixe, the proposed plan was not appreciated by student representatives, but the plan was finalised without considering the concern. In oct/19, student representatives requested to re-examine the construction plans, but request got denied by a council member.

On part of the university administration, Ms. Holzmann, the lead structural engineer, and myself will attend the meeting. The Chancellor is involved in other appointments, and I will be happy to forward your remaining inquiries to him after the on-site visit. Please remember to wear your mouth-and-nose cover when visiting the building due to the corona-related regulations on campus. Thank you in advance. I'm looking forward to meeting you soon.
